Operculum: - round with approx. 8 rings, central nucleus

Range/Habitat: - Thailand , River Moei and its affluents (border river to Myanmar) - Thailand, Prov. Kaamphaeng Phet, Moei River, - Thailand, Prov. Kamphaeng Phet, river by Mae Sot, - in the same areas as Brotia pagodula and Brotia herculea ( Maenam Moei ) . These are clear, fast-flowing mountain brooks with rocks and cataracts. They are found in the tropical alternate climate zone, however, in the cooler mountain region. Mae Sot is located about 80 km west of the province capital Tak at Maenam Moi river. It is situated in a woody mountaineous region on a flat and is surrounded by rice and cotton fields. The average yearly temperature in the region around Kaamphaeng Phet is at 27.1 °C, in summer there is monsoon climate with high humidity. Reproduction: Brotia herculea is dioecious. The male inseminates the female by passing a spermatophor, the young snails grow inside a breeding sac. The young snails are of an average 3 mm length and about 1.9 mm wide and have up to 3.5 whorls. The next-to-the-last whorl is smooth, whereas the others show strong axial ridges. Life span: Food: They are probably partially filter-feeding snails (speculative). That's why they should be fed with powdered food. They like to eat algae from rocks and the glass panes. The aquarium – their requirements: Please refer to the keeping conditions for Brotia pagodula: Interested aquarists have observed that temperatures between 20 and 25 °C, strong water movement and aeration are better for this snail. When temperatures are constantly high and the tank is not cooled there can be severe losses. Socialization: We can only advise to socialize this snail with animals that do not compete strongly for food.
